Virtual Commons and Tavern, Thursday, July 2nd
From the Seneschal of Whyt Whey:
Please join us on Thursday, July 2nd, at 7pm for a Virtual Commons and Tavern! Join online via Google Meet. You do not need to have an East Kingdom account or any other Google account to participate.
This is our usual quarterly commons and business meeting. One topic will be discussing what the reopening of Whyt Whey gatherings might look like. What are our safety requirements? What is necessary to make the populace feel safe in gathering for solars or bardic circles? If you have anything you’d like to put on the agenda, please email the Seneschal.
Following Commons, folk are invited to remain in the session for sociability, chatting, and interconnection. You are not alone!
A virtual Evening in the Solar, May 7th
Please join us Thursday, May 7, at 7:30pm for a class on Geometric Clothing Construction, taught by Lord Ibrahim al-Rashid.
This class will discuss how clothing can be constructed from simple geometric shapes, based on extant garments from various times and places in the SCA period. Strategies for fitting and sizing to the individual will be discussed.

WordPress Upgrade Sunday April 12
I wish to upgrade the version of WordPress that this site uses. Doing so will put the site into “Maintenance mode” during which you can neither see nor write content. I estimate the duration of this maintenance will be substantially less than half an hour and I propose to do this on the morning of Sunday April 12, at around 9 AM.
The upgrade will not affect how the site works or appears after it is complete. It adds a few new features of interest to site authors and admins, and of course corrects many existing bugs and security issues.
If this will cause you any problems, please leave a comment below.

Evening in the Solar, Thurs. Feb. 6th
Please join us Thursday, February 6, at 7:30pm for a class on sourcing raw materials for your projects!
It can be hard to find the right fiber, fabric, notions, and other items for your A&S projects. Þórfinnr and Vika will discuss both where and how to shop, what to look out for, and what (broadly speaking) to expect to pay for various kinds of materiel.
The class is not at the usual solar location. It will be held in Rm. 111 of the Milstein Center at Barnard College. No ID is required to enter campus or the building for this event. The building and the room are accessible.
To get to Barnard, take the 1 train to 116th & Broadway, and enter the main campus gates on the west side of Broadway at 117th St. (There are campus maps posted just inside the gate.)
