Hooray for Spring! Please join us on Thursday, April 4, for a Commons meeting and an Evening in the Solar.
This is our usual quarterly commons and business meeting. If you have anything you’d like to put on the agenda, please email seneschal@whytwhey.eastkingdom.org.
Following Commons, please stay for the class: Introduction to Nålbinding, taught by Lord Ibrahim al-Rashid. (Nålbinding is a period technique for creating garments, particularly mittens, hats, and socks, somewhat similar to knitting or crochet.)
We will be at the usual location, 255 W. 105th St., #21. Commons will begin at 7pm, and the solar will follow.

Thursday, April 4, 7:30pm: Introduction to Nålbinding, taught by Lord Ibrahim al-Rashid. (Nålbinding is a period technique for creating garments, particularly mittens, hats, and socks, somewhat similar to knitting or crochet.)
Thursday, May 2, 7:30pm: “Sit and Spin…or perhaps not” – a class in two parts. Audrey will teach how to spin with a drop spindle; and Lord Þórfinnr will teach how to spin using a distaff.
There will also be a Canton Commons meeting on April 4th, before the Solar.
Please join us Thursday, March 7th, at the usual time (7:30pm) and place (255 W. 105th St, #21) for a class on Viking-era clothing taught by Lord Þórfinnr Hróðgeirsson. All are welcome!

Happy New Year! Please join us next Thursday, January 10, for a Commons meeting and beaded veil class.
This is our usual quarterly commons; topics will include confirmation of a formal financial policy, upcoming events, &c. If you have anything else you’d like to put on the agenda, please email seneschal@whytwhey.eastkingdom.org.
Following Commons, please stay for a class on beaded veils, taught by Lady Beatrice della Rocca! The adding of beads to veils is an old and classic way of not only showing off your skills but also making your veils look lovely. In this class, you will learn the same techniques to bead your veils as was taught at last Pennsic. Needles, thread, beads and simple veils will be supplied, but feel free to bring your own veils. This is a hands-on class, with spectators being welcome.

Following Commons, please stay for a basic brewing class taught by Lord Þórfinnr Hróðgeirsson! Mead is the drink of song and poetry, from Beowulf to Queen Elizabeth. We’ll discuss what we know about historical mead production, how it relates to modern best practice, and demonstrate making a gallon batch.
Different venue! The Commons and the Solar will be hosted at Þórfinnr‘s: 165 W. 66th St., Apt. 4E.
